1. Who we are
KrewBar (“KrewBar”, “we”, “us”) operates the KrewBar mobile app and the website at krewbar.com. For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@krewbar.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: name, email address, password (stored encrypted), date of birth, and optional phone number. If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name and email from that provider.
- Profile: profile and cover photos, bio, interests, your role (crew or passenger) and, for crew, your department and position.
- Voyage information: the cruise line, ship and sailing you select, and your voyage history.
- Verification documents: passengers provide an identity document (such as a passport); crew members provide a crew ID card and an employment letter. These are used only to verify your account and are reviewed by authorised KrewBar staff.
- Content: posts, photos, videos, stories, comments, likes, group messages, private messages and event responses you create, and reports you submit.
- Early-access list: on krewbar.com: your email address, whether you are crew or a passenger, the cruise company you work for or sail with, and whether you agreed to receive news.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, push-notification token, and activity such as when you were last active (used to show “online” status).
- Website data: the page you arrived on, the referring site, campaign parameters (for example utm_source) and approximate country. If you accept cookies, the Meta and TikTok pixels measure whether our ads led to an early-access request.
- Purchases: if you buy a membership, the App Store or Google Play processes payment. We receive the subscription status, not your card details.
3. How we use information
- To create and run your account and connect you with the right ship, voyage and communities.
- To verify identities and keep crew-only and sailing-only spaces restricted to the right people.
- To deliver messages, calls, notifications and the features you choose to use.
- To keep KrewBar safe: moderating reported content, preventing fraud, spam and abuse, and enforcing our Terms.
- To provide memberships you purchase and manage their renewal or expiry.
- To tell you about the launch and, if you opted in, send news and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To understand and improve the product, including measuring our advertising.
4. Who can see your information
Your profile is visible to people on your current voyage. Crew-only communities are visible only to verified crew. Posts, stories and group messages are visible to the audience you choose or the group you post in. Private messages are visible to the people in the conversation. Verification documents are never shown to other members.
5. Service providers
We share information only with providers that help us run KrewBar, under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Cloud hosting and file storage (Amazon Web Services).
- Push notifications (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- Voice and video calling (Agora).
- Subscription management (RevenueCat, Apple App Store, Google Play).
- Sign-in providers you choose to use (Google, Apple).
- Email delivery, and, only with your consent on our website, advertising measurement (Meta, TikTok).
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of our members or the public, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Verification documents are kept only as long as needed to verify you and meet legal obligations. When you delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal information, except where we must keep it for legal, safety or fraud-prevention reasons.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, download or delete your information, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent. You can edit your profile in the app, change notification settings on your device, decline cookies on our website, and request account deletion at krewbar.com/delete-account. To exercise any right, email info@krewbar.com.
8. International transfers
KrewBar serves an international community, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit, encrypted password storage, access controls and other safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
10. Children
KrewBar is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. If the changes are significant we will let you know in the app or by email. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
